Road to School, 2022

„People change places, or places change people?”

In this series, I return to the physical and emotional landscapes of my childhood. The photographs trace the route I used to walk to primary school – streets, corners, buildings, and forgotten spaces that have remained etched in my memory. Despite the years that have passed, many of these places seem to have resisted the march of time. They still hold the same atmosphere, evoking the familiar scents, sounds, and feelings of early youth.

To capture this sense of nostalgia, I used a Holga 120 toy camera – a simple tool with imperfect optics that mirrors the nature of memory itself: soft at the edges, sometimes unpredictable, yet profoundly evocative. The slight distortions and vignettes became part of the narrative, reflecting the way we remember the past – not with clarity, but with feeling.

This project invites the viewer to reflect not only on the transformation of places but also on how those places once shaped us – and continue to live within us.
